PURPOSE, SCOPE & PRINCIPLES

Economics at the table. Stronger evidence for all fields.

ERS–WVSU is an economics-centered research seminar and collaborative development initiative. Its interdisciplinary mission is specific: help scholars strengthen the economics, applied analysis, and causal-inference components of their research.

Make the economic contribution clearer.

We aim to connect researchers’ subject-matter expertise with economic reasoning and credible empirical strategies. Through seminar discussion, joint research design, and methodological collaboration, ERS–WVSU seeks to help teams ask sharper questions, draw better-supported conclusions, and communicate their implications responsibly.

“Rigorous collaboration begins with clarity about the question, the evidence, and each team’s contribution.”

Four principles.
One shared purpose.

01

Disciplinary respect

Partners retain ownership of their scientific expertise, questions, and contributions.

02

Economic clarity

We look for mechanisms, trade-offs, incentives, and outcomes that economics can illuminate.

03

Empirical credibility

We prioritize transparent data analysis, defensible identification, and appropriate uncertainty.

04

Shared research value

We aim for fair collaboration, agreed credit, stronger publications, and useful evidence.

A focused platform for collaboration.

Launched as an initiative in 2026, ERS–WVSU seeks to build a sustainable economics-centered research conversation at West Virginia State University. It complements—not replaces—the roles of departments, laboratories, Extension, and established university research offices. Formal partnerships and collaborative roles must be agreed with the relevant teams.
